Meet Kat Hendrix

ERYT-500

My Story

Kat Hendrix, ERYT-500, has 15 years of experience teaching yoga classes and workshops. With a Ph.D. in Public Health, she specializes in the anatomy and biology that underpin the practice. She has developed a unique method of teaching human anatomy to yoga teachers in training that emphasizes how the physical practice of yoga impacts and is impacted by our anatomy. Kat’s classes focus on steadiness and strength, emphasizing alignment and slow, flowing movements connected by breath. She also works with colleagues at the Medical University of South Carolina on scientific studies of how gentle yoga and pranayama may help relieve the symptoms of serious conditions such as scleroderma and cancer.

Kat posts anatomy-based yoga tips as The Yoga Mechanic on her website and blog. Her book, Yoga Tune Up - Advice, Inspiration, and Instruction for the Care and Maintenance of Your Practice will be released in the winter of 2021-22.
